Up Close And Personal With Sally Parkes: Yoga, Birth Stories, Motherhood And Running A Yoga Business

***Trigger Warning – This episode contains some graphic information about the birthing process and talks about PTSD during the post-natal periods which may cause some discomfort to listeners.***

I admire women who are not afraid of embracing it all; the good, the bad and the ugly. Sally Parkes is one of those.

Sally has a beautiful approach to Yoga and Life. She’s really smart, hardworking and has a fantastic sense of humour, and more importantly is really open-minded, non-judgemental and incredibly honest.

For example, when she found out that someone was stealing her teaching content and using her materials to make their own course, she went on to Facebook and posted something like ‘’whoever you are, I’m going to track you down, and give you a hug! Cos that’s what you probably need the most if you’re doing this’’.

For me, she really embodies what it is to be a yogi, and that’s why I wanted her to be my guest her on this podcast!

Here’s what we talk about:

  • Managing serious Yoga injuries with and without Yoga.
  • Sally’s pregnancy experiences, birth stories, and the self-imposed expectation of what it should be like, especially being a prenatal yoga teacher.
  • Sally opens up about her PTSD related to giving birth to her daughter, and how she went through very different experiences during giving birth to her two daughters and tools she used to manage the challenging post-partum phase.
  • Her work and how to balance being a single mother and running a growing online yoga business and what self-care and your personal yoga practice can look like.
